Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new chemical formulations and biomaterials (e.g., hydrogels, coatings, resorbable polymers, viscoelastic materials).
  • Conduct chemical functionalization of materials and determine their physico-chemical properties using various instrumentation methods.
  • Assess functional performance of materials both in-vitro and in-vivo.
  • Collaborate with team members from diverse backgrounds to plan and conduct scientific experiments.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental results effectively.
  • Adapt to changing requirements in a dynamic work environment and contribute intellectually to areas beyond your field.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on laboratory experience with various polymers, biomaterials, and formulations.
  • Experience in designing and developing polymeric materials-based solutions for biomedical or pharmaceutical applications.
  • Proficiency in characterizing formulations, polymers, gels, polymer blends, emulsions, particles, biomedical polyesters, and other viscoelastic systems.
  • Experience operating materials characterization tools such as rheometer, Instron, DSC, GPC, and spectroscopic methods, and interpreting the data.
  • Research experience during graduate school or post-graduation is required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior work experience in a medical device R&D organization is a plus.
  • Experience developing test methods to assess biomechanical performance of prototypes.
  • Knowledge of polymer processing methods (e.g., extrusion, thermoforming, 3D printing) and resorbable materials.
  • Experience in designing preclinical studies and interpreting the data.
  • Basic synthetic chemistry experience (small molecule or polymer synthesis).
  • Willingness to work occasionally with biological specimens (e.g., animal tissues) for lab-scale testing.
  • Ability to design, execute, and document experiments.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interpret and present scientific results.
