Job Description
Title: LVN/LPN Float – Clinic (Full-Time Contract) – San Antonio, TX (North Area)
Pay rate: $37.17 an hr
Location: San Antonio, TX 78258 (float to nearby North San Antonio clinics as needed)
Job Type: Contract to hire
Hours: 32–40 hrs/week (typically ~34 hrs/week) + flexibility required
Schedule: Includes every other weekend; some major holidays may be required
Setting: Patient-facing, onsite
About the Role
We’re hiring a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Float to support a busy retail clinic environment in North San Antonio. This is a full-time contingent opportunity for nurses who are comfortable working in fast-paced, high-volume outpatient settings and floating between nearby clinic locations.
All clinic roles are safety-sensitive.
What You’ll Do
- Administer medications (oral, injectable, IV, topical) per protocol
- Perform routine patient assessments and monitor vital signs
- Support point-of-care testing and clinical procedures
- Provide vaccine administration and phlebotomy support (as applicable)
- Document accurately in the EMR (Epic or similar preferred)
- Maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked clinic environment
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the clinical team
Required Qualifications
- Active, full, unrestricted LVN/LPN license (must be in good standing; no current or prior disciplinary actions)
- BLS certification (must remain valid at least 30 days beyond start date)
- 1+ year related healthcare experience
- Primary Care, Urgent Care, or ER experience required
- Comfortable with EMR systems (Epic preferred)
- Experience with phlebotomy, vaccine administration, and point-of-care testing
- Verifiable High School Diploma or GED
Important: Candidates whose experience is primarily in long-term care settings (SNF/LTC, home health, LTAC, etc.) may struggle in the clinic environment—please ensure recent applicable outpatient/acute experience.
Schedule / Training Notes
- Schedules are created in 6-week blocks after the initial ~3 weeks of training/orientation
- Shifts are generally 7–10 hours during clinic operating hours
- A typical week may include 2–3 weekdays + every other weekend
