Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join our team in Toledo, Ohio. This position involves providing psychiatric care to patients, including those in forensic settings. The selected candidate will also assist in transitioning to the EPIC online portal for electronic health records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, examine, analyze, diagnose, and treat patients.
- Prescribe medications and perform in-depth psychotherapy and counseling (e.g., psychoanalysis, behavior modification).
- Monitor and coordinate activities of professional and paraprofessional staff involved in psychiatric care.
- Review consumer records for accuracy and completeness, and recommend improvements in hospital staffing and organization.
- Conduct and participate in lectures and seminars in psychiatry or related fields for healthcare staff.
Required Qualifications:
- Certificate to practice medicine per Section 4731.13 of the Revised Code.
- Satisfactory completion of a residency training program in psychiatry approved by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association.
- Recognition as a psychiatrist by the Ohio State Medical Association or the Ohio Osteopathic Association based on formal training and a minimum of 5 years of medical practice limited to psychiatry.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of medicine, psychology, sociology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Skill in administering medication.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficiency in interpreting a variety of technical materials (books, journals, manuals).
- Capability to handle sensitive contacts with individuals under medical care.
Continuing Education:
- Biannual renewal of medical license with a requirement of 100 hours of continuing education.
Working Conditions:
- Potential exposure to dangerous patients and infectious diseases.
- May require travel to community sites under contract with the Department of Mental Health.
