Title: QA Specialist

Location: Work from Home

Note: This role is NOT open to C2C candidates

The IT Testing Specialist will create test deliverables and perform hands-on testing for internally developed or externally purchased products. Types of testing performed may include system, integration, regression, or end-to-end testing. The IT Testing Specialist will deploy and execute job streams for creating test beds, designing test scenarios, authoring test scripts, executing tests, and tracking defects to certify that applications meet approved system requirements. Working collaboratively with other IT staff to review and understand system requirements, the IT Testing Specialist will design and review test strategies and identify resolutions for defects. The IT Testing Specialist is expected to demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and written communication skills. Successful Testers will be detail-oriented, self-motivated individuals who can work closely with teams of designers, engineers, and other related personnel, while being able to work independently, if needed. They should display strong judgment and be able decision-makers, capable of exercising strong time management skills. Essential position functions include:

  • Creating test approaches, identifying scope of testing with risk-based approaches for features or scope of work in a project effort, identifying test environments, dependencies, constraints, and prioritizing test cases and scheduling time for testing
  • Ensuring end-to-end testing methodology, including all appropriate documentation and requirements
  • Setting up software and hardware in the test lab, per specs
  • Ensuring test results are accurate, thorough, and appropriately documented
  • Communicating results and coordinating logistics to Systems Analysts, Developers, and other key IT staff and leadership, as appropriate
  • Documenting problems or results inconsistent with expected results
  • Performing quality assurance tests on all work, and detailed analysis on test results
  • Certifying applications for release to the next testing stage or production environment, and generating and distributing periodic status reports for testing
  • Setting-up and executing complex scripts independently
  • Setting-up test data beds based on data matching specific test conditions
  • Creating and executing moderately complex SQL queries
  • Writing/coordinating the resolution of system defects, ensuring appropriate hand-offs and re-testing
  • Providing technical guidance to other IT Testing Specialists, as needed
  • Participating in requirements gathering sessions or soliciting information on incomplete requirements
  • Participating in the facilitation and coordination of user acceptance testing
  • Designing tests to aid learning and mitigate risks
  • Working with developers to create automated tests and executing automated test scripts
  • Working with Business Analysts and business stakeholders to undertake exploratory testing
  • Ensuring stories contain specific acceptance test conditions which communicate objectives to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Assisting Product Owners in coming up with acceptance criteria for user stories

Position Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of relevant QA and Testing experience
  • Experience with testing management tools, including automated tools (Rest Assured, Cucumber, Karate, Visual Studio Test Pro, Jenkins) and manual tools (SOAP UI, VS Code Thunder Client (like Postman))
  • Experience using Toad, Visual Studio Code, etc.
  • Beginner to intermediate-level knowledge of RESTful API testing and execution
  • Experience with Interoperability utilizing HL7 FHIR standards
  • Ability to read various system input/output files, including XML, DFF (Delimited Flat Files), Flat, 834, 835, 270, 271, JSON, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of the SDLC & STLC, and strong knowledge of QA/Testing concepts
  • Ability to create moderately complex SQL queries to extract data
  • Ability to read logical and physical data models and understand the relationship between various tables
  • Ability to create and execute automated test scripts, as needed
  • Ability to create unique test scenarios and execute test cases from scratch
  • Intermediate comprehension of requirements documents to extract necessary data to create test approaches, test cases, and determine appropriate test data needs
  • Ability to comprehend mapping documents to ensure the integrity of data
  • A thorough understanding of business processes and flows involved in system capability testing
  • A thorough understanding of As-Is and To-Be business processes
  • Strong PC skills and demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite products
  • Ability to communicate with the business in business language and with developers in technical language
  • Strong aptitude and self-learning skills
  • Experience in Healthcare, Claims, or Health Insurance
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of performance and security vulnerability testing
  • Experience using SAFe Agile methodology
  • Intermediate to advanced-level knowledge of Interoperability ETL processes
  • Beginning to advanced-level knowledge of CMS mandates, including USCDI, CARIN, Provider Directory, Payer to Payer, PDex, CDex, etc.
  • Experience with Edifecs software, including SpecBuilder and/or EAM (Edifecs Application Manager)
  • Ability to comprehend and create YAML files, Swagger documents, etc.
  • Beginner to intermediate-level knowledge of EMR/EHR data
  • Knowledge of performance and security vulnerability testing
