Job Description
Title: QA Specialist – IT Testing Specialist
Location: Jacksonville, FL (Hybrid)
Note: This role is NOT open to C2C or 3rd party candidates
The IT Testing Specialist will create test deliverables and perform hands-on testing for internally developed or externally purchased products; types of testing may include system, integration, regression, and/or end-to-end testing. IT Testing Specialists deploy or execute job streams for creating test beds, designing test scenarios, authoring test scripts, executing tests, and tracking defects to certify that applications meet approved system requirements. Working collaboratively with other IT staff to review and understand system requirements, the IT Testing Specialist will design and review test strategies, identifying resolutions for defects.
The IT Testing Specialist is expected to demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and written communication skills to satisfy the main duties of this profession. Successful Testers are detail-oriented, self-motivated individuals who can work closely with teams of Designers, Engineers, and other related personnel, while also being able to work independently, as needed. They should display good judgment and be able decision-makers capable of exercising strong time management skills.
Position Responsibilities:
- Creating test approaches, identifying scope of testing with risk-based approaches for each feature or scope of work in a project effort, identifying test environments, dependencies, constraints, prioritizing test cases, and scheduling time for testing
- Ensuring end-to-end testing methodology, including all appropriate documentation and requirements
- Setting up software and hardware in the test lab, per specs
- Ensuring test results are accurate, thorough, and appropriately documented
- Communicating results and coordinating logistics to Systems Analysts, Developers, and other key IT staff and leadership, as appropriate
- Documenting problems or results inconsistent with expected results
- Performing quality assurance testing on all work, and performing detailed analysis on test results
- Certifying applications for release to the next testing stage or to the production environment
- Generating and distributing periodic status reports for testing
- Setting up and executing complex scripts independently
- Setting up test data beds based on data matching specific test conditions
- Creating and executing moderately complex SQL queries
- Executing automated test scripts
- Writing/coordinating the resolution of system defects, and ensuring appropriate hand-offs and re-testing
- Providing technical guidance to other IT Testing Specialists
- Participating in requirements gathering sessions or soliciting information on incomplete requirements
- Participating in the facilitation and coordination of user acceptance testing
- Designing tests to aid learning and mitigate risks
- Working with Developers to create automated tests
- Working with Business Analysts and business stakeholders to undertake exploratory testing
- Ensuring stories contain specific acceptance test conditions which communicate objectives to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Assisting the Product Owner in coming up with acceptance criteria for user stories
Position Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of professional experience in a development or testing environment, with strong knowledge of testing concepts and the ability to create unique test scenarios
- Experience with manual testing (front-end/back-end), and with tools including Selenium, Appium, JMeter, Jenkins, TestLink, Mantis, Postman, or Firebug
- Strong knowledge of the SDLC and STLC
- Experience with API testing concepts using Postman
- Experience working with Oracle/SQL databases, including the ability to extract data utilizing moderately complex SQL queries
- Thorough understanding of business processes and flows involved in system capability testing
- Thorough understanding of As-Is and To-Be business processes to understand what's changing
- Ability to communicate with the business in business language and with developers in technical language
- Ability to read logical and physical data models and understand the relationship between various tables
- Ability to clearly identify data needs and requirements for their respective testing efforts
- Ability to read various system input/output files, such as XML, Flat, 834, 835, etc.
- Strong PC skills and demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office Suite products
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment utilizing Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid methodologies preferred
- Experience with automated testing, or with tools including Selenium, Robotium, TestComplete, QTP, SoapUI, or Visual Studio Test Pro preferred
- Knowledge of performance and security vulnerability testing preferred
- Healthcare or Financial industry experience preferred
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field, or equivalent work experience preferred
