R&D Mechanical Engineer (Medical Device) About the Role
The client’s company is seeking a Staff-level Mechanical Engineer to lead design and development for complex electromechanical capital equipment in a highly technical R&D environment. This role is ideal for experienced engineers who thrive on solving tough mechanical design challenges, driving product innovation, and leading small cross-functional teams.
R&D Mechanical Engineer (Medical Device) Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of components, mechanisms, and systems for new or existing capital equipment.
- Apply advanced mechanical engineering principles to develop, test, and refine high-performance solutions.
- Collaborate across R&D, electrical, and manufacturing functions to ensure design intent and system integration.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical leadership throughout design phases.
- Execute testing, validation, and documentation to support development milestones and regulatory requirements.
R&D Mechanical Engineer (Medical Device) Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME or MSME).
- 8+ years of hands-on experience designing electromechanical or capital equipment systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead a small engineering team and ensure alignment on project objectives.
R&D Mechanical Engineer (Medical Device)Preferred Qualifications
- Background in medical device or other regulated industries (FDA, ISO 13485, etc.).
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), tolerance analysis, and statistical problem-solving.
- Proficiency with FEA tools and structured engineering methods.
R&D Mechanical Engineer (Medical Device) Work Environment
- Based in Covington, GA.
- Onsite Monday–Thursday, with Friday flexibility.
- Standard hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. with 1-hour lunch and limited flexibility.
