Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Radiology Manager – Multi-Modality to lead a large, multidisciplinary imaging department within a Level III Medical Office Building. This role oversees operations, staff, and performance across multiple imaging modalities and plays a key role in driving patient care quality and operational excellence.
This position manages approximately 40+ employees in a union environment (UFCW) and partners closely with a senior manager onsite.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations across CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Mammography, and X-ray
- Manage departmental budgets (FTE and non-payroll expenses)
- Approve PTO, coordinate staffing coverage, and manage scheduling systems
- Monitor and resolve:
- PACS exceptions
- Unsigned studies
- Unended exams
- Lead monthly staff meetings and communicate organizational updates
- Collaborate with internal departments (Ambulatory, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, etc.) to improve workflows and patient care
People Leadership
- Directly manage 60–75% of department staff
- Conduct performance reviews and lead employee development
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, and employee relations (including FMLA coordination)
- Drive accountability, engagement, and performance standards
Equipment & Systems Oversight
- Manage imaging equipment performance and downtime
- Communicate equipment failures impacting patient care
- Ensure proper documentation and escalation procedures
Strategic & Financial Management
- Analyze patient volumes and access trends
- Develop and present business cases and capital requests
- Support operational improvements and long-term planning
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of diagnostic imaging experience (Radiologic Technologist, Sonographer, Mammographer, or Nuclear Medicine Technologist)
- Minimum 3+ years of radiology supervisory experience with direct reports
- Experience managing 30+ employees across multiple modalities
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR
- Graduate of an accredited diagnostic imaging program with equivalent experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
Licensure / Certification (One Required)
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (Washington State)
- OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
- OR Radiologic Technologist Certification
- OR Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
Must-Have
- Nuclear Medicine experience
- Knowledge of hospital regulatory and accreditation standards
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a union environment (UFCW)
- Budgeting and financial management experience
- Six Sigma or process improvement experience
- Multi-modality certifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience
- Microsoft Office proficiency
Work Environment & Schedule
- Facility may operate 24/7
- Participation in on-call rotation required (region-wide support)
- Availability for early morning and after-hours staffing needs
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary (based on experience)
- $10,000 sign-on bonus:
- 50% paid within first two pay periods
- 50% paid after 12 months
