Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled PCU/TELE RN for a 13-week travel contract at our Akron campus in Ohio. This position is based in a 21-bed cardiac step-down/telemetry and stroke overflow unit, requiring strong experience in telemetry, progressive care nursing, and cardiac monitoring. The ideal candidate will have at least 2+ years of PCU/Telemetry experience, including proficiency with Epic, ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke certifications.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, with responsibilities including care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, telemetry monitoring, and stroke care.

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality care to PCU/telemetry patients in a 21-bed cardiac step-down unit.
• Monitor and assess patients recovering from cardiac procedures, manage telemetry, and care for stroke patients.
• Administer medications, perform clinical assessments, and adjust care plans as needed.
• Draw blood and start IVs independently as required.
• Float within the unit as needed based on patient care demands.
• Document patient care in the Epic system (recent Epic experience required, and must be listed on your resume).
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Must be able to work either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but not both.
• No block scheduling requests will be accepted.
• Scrub color: Solid black.

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry Required Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) with 2+ years of PCU/Telemetry experience.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required.
• Recent Epic experience (within the last 12 months) required. Please include where you last used Epic in your resume.
• Proficiency in drawing blood and starting IVs.
• Ability to work the night shift (19:00 – 07:30) and handle patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5.
• Floating within the unit is required based on patient care needs.
• Must be available to work either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but not both.
• Solid black scrubs required.

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience in a cardiac step-down unit or stroke care.
• Strong telemetry monitoring background.
• Experience working in high-acuity settings.
