NOW HIRING! A-Line is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) candidates to provide professional nursing care in a variety of settings including student health services units, correctional facilities, or other state-owned/operated institutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, observing, and recording patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, and responding to medical emergencies. In some cases, the position may also include leadership and supervisory responsibilities. This is a dynamic role that offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Shifts Available: 1st Shift 5:30am-3:30pm (Every 4th Weekend) OR 2nd Shift 1:30pm- 11:30pm (Every 4th Weekend)
Key Responsibilities:
In a Health Services or Correctional Facility Setting, your duties will include but are not limited to:
Patient Care:
- Provide professional nursing care to hospitalized students, inmates, juvenile offenders, or consumers in state-operated facilities.
- Observe, assess, and record patient symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations.
- Monitor patients in secure or isolated settings (e.g., lock-ups, detention areas) on a scheduled basis (e.g., every 15 minutes).
- Respond to medical emergencies, including administering first aid, arranging transportation to emergency rooms, contacting physicians, and providing immediate medical interventions as needed.
Clinical Procedures:
- Perform specialized nursing procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, and blood transfusions.
- Provide specialized care for bedridden inmates, including care plan development, medication administration (including narcotics), and direct nursing care.
- Coordinate and oversee 'Code Blue' team response to emergencies.
Supervisory & Leadership (if applicable):
- May serve as a lead worker in charge of assigned shifts, overseeing other nursing staff, including Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and hospital aides.
- Assist in the orientation, training, and development of new employees and nursing staff.
- Review and approve care plans written by staff and provide guidance on best practices.
- May have authority to approve/disapprove leave requests and conduct performance evaluations (not mandatory).
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, including medications, treatments, and progress notes.
- Complete required reports such as incident reports, Medicaid documentation, and inventory control reports.
- Order medical supplies and maintain accurate inventory of controlled substances, medications, and equipment.
- Schedule and coordinate out-patient clinic appointments and referrals.
- Serve as liaison between staff and management, attending meetings and participating in problem-solving teams.
Patient Education & Advocacy:
- Educate patients and staff on health care principles, proper treatment methods, and preventive care.
- Counsel patients on the need for follow-up care or medical referrals.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensing:
- Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- additional certifications or education required, e.g., CPR, ACLS.
Experience:
- Proven experience in a clinical or hospital setting, preferably with experience in correctional healthcare, student health services, or a similar environment.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring nursing staff is preferred but not required.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of nursing procedures, state and federal nursing regulations, and patient care protocols.
- Familiarity with medical equipment (e.g., stethoscope, otoscope, EKG machine, blood pressure cuff) and procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, and medication administration.
- Ability to handle complex clinical situations and provide quality patient care under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory and complete detailed reports.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a correctional healthcare environment that may involve direct patient care, exposure to potentially hazardous materials, and the need for physical stamina.
- Must be able to lift and move patients or equipment as needed.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, or holidays depending on shift assignments.
