Job Description
- Provides professional nursing care to hospitalized students, inmates, juvenile offenders, or consumers in state facilities, or staff, observing, assessing, and recording symptoms and progress.
- Performs nursing rounds, takes vitals, and administers prescribed medications and treatments, including immunizations.
- Monitors restrained patients every 15 minutes and provides immediate medical attention in emergencies (first aid, hospital transport, physician contact, counseling).
- In correctional settings, manages health care for 20-60 bedridden inmates, performing care plans, medication administration, and specialized procedures such as dialysis and wound care.
- Organizes and oversees 'code blue' team, directs healthcare staff, and acts as lead shift nurse in the absence of another nurse.
- Assists physicians with health evaluations, performs clerical documentation, arranges outpatient appointments, and maintains inventory of drugs and supplies.
