Assignment Type: Temp-to-Perm (opportunity to extend or convert to permanent based on business needs)

Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Tech I - Prior Authorization is responsible for handling inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, members, and other healthcare professionals while supporting the prior authorization process. This role requires maintaining accurate documentation, processing prior authorization requests, and escalating clinical questions to the pharmacist team. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume call center environment and providing exceptional customer service.

Training:

  • Training Dates: 08/23/2026 – 10/09/2026
  • Training Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST
  • No time off is permitted during the training period.

Schedule:

  • Standard 8.5-hour workday
  • Permanent schedule assigned after training based on business needs
  • Typical shifts begin at 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 10:30 AM CST
  • Candidates must be able to work Central Time (CST) business hours regardless of their U.S. location

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, members, and other healthcare professionals
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service throughout the criteria-based prior authorization process
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of approvals, denials, and review activities
  • Process prior authorization requests received via fax and electronic prior authorization (ePA)
  • Make outbound calls as needed to support prior authorization activities
  • Monitor and respond to department mailbox inquiries
  • Transfer all clinical questions, judgment calls, and escalations to the pharmacist team
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume call center environment (healthcare, PBM, or prior authorization experience strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician performing administrative support functions
  • Active Pharmacy Technician license with no restrictions
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification or state-required certification/licensure
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and medical coding
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and spreadsheet applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to accurately document approvals, denials, and prior authorization reviews
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior authorization processing experience
  • Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) experience
  • Experience processing electronic prior authorizations (ePA)
  • Experience reviewing and processing faxed prior authorization requests

What Candidates Should Know:

  • This is a fully remote position open to candidates located anywhere within the United States.
  • Candidates must be available to work Central Time (CST) hours.
  • Attendance during the entire training period is mandatory, and no time off will be approved during training.
  • This position is highly phone-based and requires handling a high volume of inbound calls while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and excellent customer service.

Benefits:
Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment.
