Work Arrangement: Part-Time Telework (Hybrid Eligible – Agency Directed; May Require Onsite Attendance for Meetings, Training, or Operational Needs)
Position Overview:
This role supports the Critical Incident Management Unit within the Office of Long-Term Living. The Risk Management Specialist Advanced is responsible for reviewing incident data, performing mortality reviews, analyzing risk trends, and ensuring health, safety, and welfare standards for program participants. The position works closely with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), Service Coordination Entities (SCEs), providers, and internal teams to ensure proper reporting, investigation, and resolution of high-risk and critical incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform case reviews and record reviews to assess participant risk and provide technical assistance
- Coordinate with MCOs, SCEs, providers, and agencies to resolve incidents and deficiencies
- Conduct mortality reviews and compile findings for analysis
- Perform trend analysis and develop reports on participant health and safety outcomes
- Track and document incident data using systems such as EIM, HCSIS, WellSky, and CIS/eCIS
- Assist in corrective action planning and risk mitigation strategies
- Communicate with state agencies and law enforcement regarding abuse, neglect, and critical incidents
- Conduct data integrity checks and support system corrections
- Participate in IT testing, system design sessions, and user acceptance testing
- Develop presentations, reports, and data visualizations using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Support policy compliance and regulatory alignment across programs
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, or related field OR 3 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in incident management or risk management preferred
- Knowledge of participant risk, safety, and welfare systems
- Understanding of basic statistics, epidemiology, and data analysis concepts
- Ability to chart, graph, and analyze data trends
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with statistical or reporting tools preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret data and identify systemic risk patterns
- Experience working with Medicaid waiver programs preferred
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and manage deadlines
- Comfortable working with government agencies and compliance processes
- Willingness to travel independently if required
