SICU RN (Registered Nurse) Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), including assessment, monitoring, intervention, and evaluation of patient responses to treatment and interventions.

• Manage complex surgical and critical care conditions, including post-operative complications, multi-system organ failure, and sepsis, with a focus on stabilizing patients and preventing further deterioration.

• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic parameters, laboratory values, and diagnostic test results to identify changes in patient condition and adjust care plans accordingly.

• Administer medications, intravenous fluids, blood products, and other treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy, safety, and timely delivery.

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs, goals, and preferences.

• Educate and support patients and families about surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-discharge care, facilitating informed decision-making and transition to the next level of care.

• Document all aspects of patient care accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.

Surgical Intensive Care Unit RN (Registered Nurse) Minimum Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) License for the state in which the nurse practices
• 2 years SICU RN (registered nurse) experience
• Previous travel experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
