Job Summary:
The Scheduler will play a key role in managing and coordinating patient appointments within a busy oncology practice. This individual will be responsible for maintaining physician schedules, handling patient referrals, and ensuring seamless communication between medical staff and patients. The role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Experience in medical office scheduling, particularly in oncology or infusion settings, is preferred, but a motivated individual with a strong scheduling background will be considered.

Scheduler Salary/Wage:
- $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Scheduler Duties:
The essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Answers all incoming calls; assesses callers' needs and directs them to the appropriate personnel.
- Schedules new patients and return appointments in the computer system following office guidelines.
- Cancels or reschedules appointments as needed based on physician changes and notifies appropriate personnel.
- Manages and enters authorization and referral documentation into patients’ charts and computer systems.
- Maintains physician schedules, including on-call, vacations, and meetings.
- Schedules outpatient appointments, testing, and hospital admissions.
- Gathers necessary pre-certifications for patient appointments.
- Handles new patient referrals, gathers necessary information, assigns account numbers, and schedules appointments.
Scheduler Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years of medical office scheduling experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience handling medical referrals, patient scheduling, and insurance coordination is highly preferred.
- Oncology or infusion experience is a plus but not required.
Scheduler Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable with frequent phone calls and computer work.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs as necessary.
Scheduler Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
