  • Minimum: $92,200
  • Midpoint: $119,900
  • Maximum: $147,500

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Radiation Therapist to join a leading radiation oncology program delivering advanced, patient-centered cancer care. This role is ideal for an experienced therapist who excels in precision treatment delivery, clinical leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Senior Radiation Therapist plays a critical role in ensuring safe, accurate radiation therapy treatments while supporting quality assurance initiatives, mentoring staff, and contributing to continuous clinical improvement. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments using advanced linear accelerators and CT simulation systems
  • Rotate across treatment machines and simulators, performing all procedures in accordance with physician prescriptions and clinical protocols
  • Interpret and implement complex treatment plans; generate and maintain complete electronic treatment records
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical oversight to staff therapists as assigned
  • Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety standards to protect patients, staff, and students
  • Monitor and document daily treatments, patient responses, and clinical charges
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and manage clinical documentation to support efficient operations
  • Collaborate with physicians, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and nursing staff to ensure accurate dose delivery and optimal treatment setup
  • Assist with equipment commissioning, calibration, quality assurance testing, and performance monitoring
  • Educate patients on treatment processes; monitor patient condition and comfort throughout therapy sessions
  • Identify and escalate clinical concerns; withhold treatment when appropriate and coordinate follow-up care
  • Support clinical training and evaluation of student radiation therapists
  • Contribute to departmental policy development, clinical procedure refinement, and quality assurance initiatives
  • Maintain licensure, certifications, and professional competencies in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Coordinate daily workflow and patient throughput within the treatment area
  • Participate in performance benchmarking and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a science-related field or graduation from an AMA-accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience as a Radiation Therapist
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy
  • Active Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist license
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Varian radiation therapy equipment
  • Certification in Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Demonstrated interest and ability in clinical leadership and staff mentorship

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, oncology, radiobiology, radiation physics, and radiation safety
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary care team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Proven commitment to patient-centered care, quality outcomes, and clinical excellence

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Primarily based in an ambulatory radiation oncology clinic connected to a hospital setting
  • Exposure to ionizing radiation is minimal and controlled
  • Requires physical activity, including lifting and positioning patients
  • On-call coverage required on a rotating basis and during emergency situations
  • Occasional regional travel may be required
