A-Line Staffing is hiring a Senior Welder / Mechanical Assembler in Houston, TX!
We are seeking an experienced Senior Welder / Mechanical Assembler to support the assembly, installation, and overhaul of gas turbines and compressor packages. This role is responsible for fitting, tacking, welding, inspecting, and assembling rotating equipment components in accordance with engineering drawings, welding standards, and safety requirements. Candidates with gas turbine and turbomachinery experience—especially Siemens Energy equipment—are strongly preferred.
Senior Welder / Mechanical Assembler Compensation
- The pay for this position is $30.00/hr
- Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment
- A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates
Senior Welder / Mechanical Assembler Highlights
- This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs
- Required Availability: 12-hour shifts, 6:00 a.m. – 6:30pm
Job Requirements
Senior Welder / Mechanical Assembler Responsibilities
- Fit, tack, and weld components in accordance with drawings, specifications, and welding standards
- Perform complete welds on carbon steel, stainless steel, and low-alloy materials
- Read, interpret, and work from complex assembly instructions, schematics, and blueprints
- Inspect, repair, replace, install, and maintain mechanical components and assemblies on gas turbines and compressor packages
- Perform mechanical assembly, parts installation, and alignment activities
- Review and incorporate approved engineering and design changes
- Inventory, clean, inspect, and stage components and equipment for assembly
- Safely offload incoming materials using proper lifting and rigging techniques
- Operate welding machinery, cutting rigs, hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality Control, Material Control, and other production teams
- Complete shop orders, labor tracking, and documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and EHS standards
- May require overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts based on production needs
Senior Welder / Mechanical Assembler Requirements:
- Perform tack welding and certified mechanical welding as required
- Welding qualifications must conform to ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code
- GTAW P8 6G certification required (must pass test)
- Maintain all required welding certifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED OR 10+ years of relevant stainless steel pipe welding experience
(Technical certification and work experience may be considered in lieu of high school education) - 5+ years of experience in rotating equipment manufacturing and mechanical assembly
- 5+ years of shop environment experience with welding and cutting tools/processes
- Strong ability to interpret manufacturing drawings and tolerance systems
- Experience meeting production schedules and quality requirements with limited supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Gas turbine mechanical work and overhaul experience
- Experience with Siemens Energy turbomachinery rotating equipment
- RF and Datum range turbo-compressors strongly preferred
- Experience developing and interpreting technical assembly instructions and build sequences
Physical Requirements
- Regular standing throughout shift
- Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs
