QA Automation Engineer
? Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
? Rate: $40–$45/hr on W-2
? No C2C or Third-Party Candidates
Position Summary
We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer to enhance product quality through the development and execution of comprehensive test plans and automation frameworks. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and functionality of user interfaces, APIs, and backend services.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in automated testing, API validation, and Agile environments, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites for web applications, APIs, and services
- Perform functional, integration, performance, and system testing
- Create and execute test cases, track defects, and validate resolutions
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement automation frameworks
- Conduct API testing (REST/SOAP) and validate backend integrations
- Write and execute SQL queries to validate data accuracy
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Provide task estimates, status updates, and progress reports
- Assist in developing test documentation, work instructions, and training materials
- Identify and troubleshoot issues, ensuring defects are resolved prior to production
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1+ years of software development experience OR 3+ years of automated testing experience
- Hands-on experience with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Visual Studio, Eclipse)
- Experience with API testing (REST/SOAP)
- Ability to write and execute SQL queries
- Basic understanding of application code in .NET, Java, or PHP
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or enhancing test automation frameworks
- Familiarity with Agile development environments
- Experience with performance and load testing
- ISTQB Certified Tester – Foundation Level (CTFL) certification
