Job Description
We’re seeking an experienced Adult Echocardiography Sonographer to perform high-quality inpatient echo studies in a premier cardiac center. This role is best suited for candidates whose primary, recent focus has been echocardiography (not multi-modality general ultrasound) and who are confident scanning in acute-care inpatient environments.
Position: Sonographer (Adult Echo)
Location: Morristown, NJ (On-site)
Schedule: Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun — 9:00 AM–7:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Start Date: 08/31/2026
Pay: $55-60 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for ultrasound exams with a focus on comfort, clarity, and satisfaction
- Perform ultrasound procedures and monitor patients throughout the exam
- Set up equipment and complete studies efficiently and accurately
- Review prior reports/images and relevant chart history before scanning
- Ensure studies are complete with appropriate techniques; escalate critical findings as needed
- Maintain exam records/logs and support supply inventory for the department
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience performing Adult Echo studies following ASE & IAC guidelines
- Dedicated inpatient echocardiography experience required (minimum 200 inpatient echo cases, documented by institutional referral)
- Strong valvular assessment skills including spectral Doppler and Pedoff
- Experience with contrast echo and agitated saline studies
- Ability to work independently, recognize abnormalities, and respond quickly to critical findings
- High School Diploma/GED
- Credentialing: ARDMS (Registered Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or CCI
- BLS (AHA) required
Preferred Qualifications
- TEE and Stress Echo experience
- 3D echo familiarity
- Experience with advanced cardiac protocols (TAVR, Mitral Clip, HCM, VAD, closure devices)
- Familiarity with maintaining ICAEL-accredited echo lab standards
- Philips ie33 and Epiq experience
- Familiarity with Epic
