Special Education Paraprofessional (Preschool Instructional Assistant)
Location: Phoenix, AZ 85021 (On-site)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM
Pay : $23.79/hr
Summary
Now hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional (Preschool Instructional Assistant) to support students in a classroom setting. This Special Education Paraprofessional role focuses on implementing instructional goals, supporting behavioral strategies, and assisting with IEP-related activities under the direction of the Teacher. Responsibilities
- Assist the Teacher with instructional objectives, classroom routines, and lesson support
- Support IEP (Individualized Education Plan) goals and behavioral strategies in daily activities
- Tutor students individually and in small groups (academics, daily living skills, social skills)
- Monitor and help students use equipment safely to prevent injury
- Observe, document, and help maintain student records/files per policies and procedures
- Provide hands-on assistance as needed (may include toileting, feeding, hygiene, lifting/positioning)
- Help with transitions and student transport to activities/appointments when required
- Use behavior management techniques and maintain a calm, supportive learning environment
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and consistent communication with classroom staff
- Participate in trainings/workshops to support ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and one of the following:
- Associate’s Degree, or
- Completion of 60 college credits, or
- Valid Paraprofessional Certification
- Current Arizona Driver’s License
- CPR & First Aid certification (current)
- Crisis Intervention Training certification (current) or ability to obtain within required timeline
- Experience supporting students with behavioral needs and/or special education classroom environments (preferred)
- Comfort supporting students in active, hands-on settings (standing, moving, lifting, hygiene support as needed)
- Strong communication skills, organization, multitasking, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Assistive technology (AT) familiarity, augmentative communication exposure, ASL and/or Braille skills (preferred, as applicable)
