Speech and Language Pathologist Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team in Gallipolis, OH. This part-time position offers flexibility within working hours and provides an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals requiring speech, language, and dysphagia management services. The role involves providing assessments, evaluations, and therapy treatments to individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.
Speech and Language Pathologist Work Hours:
- Hours: Flexible within standard working hours (16 hours per week).
- Shift: 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM.
- No weekends or holidays required.
Speech and Language Pathologist Compensation:
- Pay Rate: $36.00 per hour.
Speech and Language Pathologist Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine individuals' levels of receptive/expressive speech and language skills, swallowing abilities, and social/pragmatic skills.
- Develop, modify, and implement individual and group therapy/treatment programs to enhance communication, address swallowing deficiencies, and prevent asphyxiation.
- Administer hearing screenings, provide support for individuals using hearing aids, and deliver services for a range of functional communication skills (e.g., articulation, social communication, use of augmentative communication devices, etc.).
- Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide insight and contribute to the treatment and care planning for individuals.
- Design and deliver in-service training to other staff on speech-language techniques and protocols.
- Provide counseling and information to guardians/family members regarding speech, language, hearing, and swallowing issues.
- Write and maintain reports, lesson plans, and other documentation to track the progress of therapy programs.
- Maintain electronic augmentative communication devices and hearing aids.
- Recommend and implement modifications to food texture and liquid consistency to improve swallowing function, as well as make necessary medical referrals.
Speech and Language Pathologist Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Ohio.
- Prior experience in speech-language therapy, including experience with dysphagia management, is preferred.
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication devices and strategies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to provide in-service training and support to other staff members.
- Comfortable working with individuals of varying ages and abilities.
