Job Description:

The Sterile Processing Technician will provide sterilized and/or high-level disinfected (HLD) critical and semi-critical reusable medical equipment (RME) to various departments, including the operating room, dental service, and other hospital facilities. This role involves decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments, instrument sets, and flexible endoscopes following strict guidelines.


Schedule & Location:

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, rotating shifts (including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call).
  • Shift Length: 8-hour shifts with 30-minute lunch and 15-minute breaks every 4 hours.
  • Overtime: Rarely requested.
  • Facility Operation: 24/7.
  • Federal Holidays Observed:
  • New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and any national holiday.
  • Location: St Aurora CO 80045 United States

Salary/Wage:

  • Pay: $34/hour

Duties:

  • Transport contaminated RME from biohazard areas to the decontamination area.
  • Clean, disassemble, and decontaminate RME using manual and automated methods.
  • Perform visual inspections and ensure cleanliness of all RME.
  • Prepare and package RME for sterilization.
  • Operate and troubleshoot sterilizers and HLD equipment.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Prepare OR case carts and maintain sterile storage areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent SPS technician experience.
  • Valid HSPA or CBSPD certification.
  • Knowledge of aseptic principles, sterilization methods, and RME handling.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical materials and follow instructions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the shift.
  • Must lift and carry items up to 25 lbs. regularly.
  • Must adhere to all safety and protective equipment requirements.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant education above high school is a plus.
