SUPERVISOR, ROBOT PROGRAMMING 
Auburn Hills, MI

 

As a working supervisor, this position is responsible for both the supervision of robot programming jobs and personnel (approx. 20% of time) as well as working direct on jobs as a senior level programmer (approx. 80% of the time)

 

Supervision
  • Along with the Manager, assign robot programming leaders to specific projects, and review the scope of work and expectations with the leaders;
  • Overseeing projects on the manufacturing floor from a robot programming perspective, inclusive of safety, quality, cost and timing;
  • Driving jobs to be completed on time and within budgets;
  • Ensuring Customer specs are followed;
  • Assist in NCR identification and resolution;
  • Assist in establishing and implementing Continuous Improvement Ideas (Kaizen);
  • Assist in employee and contractor evaluations;
  • Attend/support customer and internal buy-offs
  • Collaborate with Manager to fulfill manpower requirements for install, launch and service needs;
  • Assist in training, fostering and growing a heathy working relationship with the robotics department

 

Programming
  • Perform robotic programming (for robots such as Fanuc, ABB, Kawasaki, and Motoman), including the following:

o Commissioning

o Robotic Dress

o Robotic safety setup
  • Develop and implement standard practices and provide detailed documentation upon project completion;
  • To ensure that robot programs adhere to the standards and needs of the customer and Company;
  • To introduce programming improvements in robotic systems that are consistent with customer changes or manufacturing needs;
  • To implement application requirements related to robotic welding, joining, sealing and material handling functions;
  • To identify spot welding locations as defined by weld data sheets and other technical data;
  • To de-bug, tryout and verify I/O signals and interference zones in the system;
  • To maintain frequent communication with mechanical and controls design personnel, as well as with manufacturing personnel, throughout the entire programming, dressing and tryout phases of installation;
  • To provide complete documentation of the robotic procedure;
  • Represent Company at customer locations when necessary, utilizing results driven problem solving skills and techniques while promoting Company’ interests and maintaining a strong customer focus.

 

Qualifications

 
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a Controls Engineering or Robotics related field of study and/or
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in robotics debug in a  machine tool build environment
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in both leading people and in coordinating with other departments within the Company group
  • Qualified in, and understand the function of, automated systems, including all internal and external components
  • Strong communication skills; must be able to communicate within a team based work environment, and interact well with fellow employees and external customer
  • Ability and willingness to travel to any of the customer and Company’s work locations in North America and other global locations as/if required
