Title: Supply Chain Analyst III

Location: Lansing, MI (Predominantly remote; onsite work required for bi-annual staff meetings and occasional special projects)

Strong experience with Supply Chain data management, data wrangling with Python, and Business Intelligence systems required

Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Analyst will identify, design, and perform data collection, data analysis, and reporting in order to analyze complex supply chain functions. They will collaborate with supply chain and information technology professionals to create queries and interface with data systems. Additionally, they will be assisting with developing reports as part of the Ariba implementation, and the creation of ad-hoc reports and dashboards to support Supply Chain decision-making for the Unit and the University.

Duties Include, but are not limited to;

•             Extracting and cleansing data from the data warehouse for ad-hoc reports, including but not limited to; one-time data extractions to answer ad-hoc departmental questions, limited complexity periodic reports, model preparation, complex SQL query programming, and other analytic initiatives
•             Supporting the analysis of supply chain data by utilizing static and dynamic tools, spreadsheets, and databases
•             Developing tools to support strategic and tactical supply chain performance measures and metrics using multiple data sources
•             Supporting regular cadence of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting needs
•             Uncovering trends and insights from data to aide stakeholders in decision-making; developing predictive models to assist decision makers with strategic planning
•             Working with loosely defined problems to develop creative solutions
•             Providing time/resource estimates for assigned tasks
•             Collaborating with business units, customers, and stakeholders for reporting requirements
•             Performing in-depth data analytics, including quantitative, statistical, and comparative analysis, to determine patterns and recognize trends; prepare a variety of reports and presentations for management and stakeholders
•             Creating dashboards using data visualization tools
•             Designing SQL queries, ranging from simple (drawing specific data fields and exporting data) to complex data wrangling within SQL (joins, drops, calculations within SQL, etc.)
•             Preparing and presenting findings to university administration, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders
•             Supporting other ad hoc responsibilities in support of University Procurement and Logistics and MSU Supply Chain Analytics, as assigned

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

•             3-5 years of related and progressively responsible or expansive work experience in data analysis, modeling, forecasting, data mining, database design, project management, strategic planning, operations planning, statistical research, and/or business analytics
•             4+ years of database and/or spreadsheet experience (pivot tables, v-lookups, conditional formatting, dropdown lists, charts, VBA, etc.)
•             3+ years of data visualization experience; Tableau experience preferred
•             Experience with ERP or SAP Material Management Software
•             Experience with Kuali Financial, Kuali Material Management System, and/or SCLogic
•             Experience with scientific/business analytics tools such as Jupyter Notebooks, Tableau, PowerBI, Cognos; 2+ years preferred
•             Experience using at least one Machine Learning algorithm (General Linear Regression Modeling, Random Forest, Ensemble, Neural Network)
•             Intermediate SQL skills
•             Experience data wrangling with Python
•             Experience with time-series modeling
•             Ability to routinely manage large data sets
•             Ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes to improve data collection and results
•             Ability to make sound decisions and demonstrate a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information
•             Proven professional track record with strong written and oral communication, analytical, data visualization, and task management skills, and a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
•             Inquisitive personality and curiosity to explore a wide-variety of subjects
•             A Four-year College Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, CIS, or other related field, or equivalent combination or work experience and education
