System Director, Health Plan Systems, and Digital Product Development Job Description:

The System Director, Health Plan Systems, and Digital Product Development is responsible for directing the design, development, release, and maintenance of technology systems and services for enterprise health plan functions. This role oversees business applications for Insurance, Finance, and Marketing systems, working closely with leadership to meet system needs with high value and user satisfaction.


System Director, Health Plan Systems, and Digital Product Development Schedule & Location:

  • Schedule: Full-time
  • Location: Akron, OH 44310, United States

System Director, Health Plan Systems, and Digital Product Development Salary/Wage:

  • $75.00 - $90.00 per hour

System Director, Health Plan Systems, and Digital Product Development Duties:

  • Direct the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of health plan applications.
  • Oversee software development, integration, and middleware activities.
  • Collaborate with Business Analytics teams to improve data architecture and operational outcomes.
  • Facilitate cloud-based solutions for clinical and business services, ensuring data integrity.
  • Lead the development of consumer engagement technology solutions for health plan stakeholders (members, agents, brokers, providers, and employers).
  • Support key projects like ERP and RFP planning, system refreshes, Care Manager, OHC changes, and end-of-life system upgrades.
  • Reduce risks for audits and enhance system compliance and efficiency.
  • Manage a team of 30, including 6 direct reports, and ensure successful team performance, recruitment, and career development.

System Director, Health Plan Systems, and Digital Product Development Required Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years in IT business systems, with 8+ years in senior-level health plan systems leadership.
    • Proven success in managing teams of 20+ staff in application development, integration, and lifecycle support.
    • Expertise in platforms like HealthEdge, EPIC Tapestry, Cognizant, custom solutions, Microsoft integration, HL7, APIs, and middleware solutions.
    • Knowledge of Agile, Lean principles, ITIL, PMI, and SDLC methodologies.
    • Experience with ERP and RFP planning, as well as upgrades and implementation.
    • Strong background in health plan operations and compliance for audits.
  • Skills:

    • Strategic mindset with IT strategic planning expertise.
    • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and cross-departmental collaboration skills.

System Director, Health Plan Systems, and Digital Product Development Physical Requirements:

  • This role may require standard office-based physical activity, including sitting, typing, and occasional lifting (10-20 lbs).

System Director, Health Plan Systems, and Digital Product Development Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a healthcare-related field.
  • Additional experience may substitute for up to two years of educational requirements.
