Job Description
Location: Detroit, MI (Position is remote but may require travel to onsite locations around Metro Detroit)
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 8AM – 6PM EST (hours may vary based on projects, support needs, or on-call responsibilities)

The Systems Analyst will meet with clients and/or managerial personnel in order to determine and define specific systems' information requirements and objectives for laboratory systems requests. They will assist with day-to-day operations, supporting team’s work on large projects. They may be asked to assist on the project where needed or where experience is applicable. The Systems Analyst will build, test, run reports, perform daily audits, make changes in the system, and assist with monthly new test builds & validation. They will assist project leaders in completing evaluations on new project requests and determine causes of laboratory systems malfunctions and issues using appropriate analysis steps for the duties assigned. Specific duties include:
Project Management:
• Being involved in laboratory projects with a focused scope and low-to-moderate degree of organizational scope, impact, and risk; projects are independent or from a larger project coordinated by other analysts
• Participating on project teams and completing assignments from project leaders, measuring project progress, and reporting statuses of projects to client and project leaders
Systems/Applications Development:
• Designing and specifying laboratory systems application functionality using appropriate application tools
• Assuring that applications designs meet the needs across the user base
• Defining application security and control procedures, when required
• Developing application test plans and evaluating and documenting the results of testing
Systems/Applications Implementation:
• Developing plans for the implementation of laboratory systems applications and enhancements for pathology
• Training end-users and validating performance, as needed for updates
• Assisting users in the development of procedures to use information systems within pathology
Systems/Applications Support:
• Rotating on-call to resolve issues for assigned information systems and applications
• Utilizing adequate knowledge and experience to support assigned information systems and business functions for pathology with proficiency and minimal assistance; may function in a lead support role for a particular application or major functionality with adequate advanced information systems knowledge/expertise
• Working collaboratively with team members and customers across pathology
• May train other team members on assigned applications or projects
• Participating in work-related professional groups, information systems user groups, and special interest groups, sharing knowledge gained with team members
Position Requirements:
• Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to locations, as needed
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Sunquest (now Clinisys) LIMS; system admin experience preferred, not just end-user experience
• Experience with clinical information systems, particularly laboratory information systems; knowledge of laboratory business processes and instrumentation
• Programming skills and/or experience with information system development tools
• Ability to work in a normal office environment with frequent visits to clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories
• Ability to manage personal workload in a self-directed work environment and complete assignments, projects, and issue resolution within appropriate timeframes
• Strong interpersonal skills to interface with information systems clients and colleagues throughout the company to determine needs, define objectives, gain acceptance of the system throughout the shared user community, and assist in the implementation of systems
• Strong written and oral communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and accurately with customers and teams
• Experience with data innovations preferred
• Experience with CoPath preferred
• A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in relevant Technical Field required; Certification from a recognized national agency such as ASCP, ASM, ACS, HEW, or NCA highly preferred
