Transfusion Specialist Highlights
- The pay for this position is $91.78-$114.02 per hour.
- Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Onsite position.
- This position is a full-time opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Performs all laboratory testing specific to the assigned section.
- Remains knowledgeable and competent in all policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensures and verifies quality control data is appropriate for the complexity of the reported tests.
- Maintains competency in all test methods.
- Ensures workflow and Turnaround Times are monitored and followed.
- Maintains knowledge of all regulatory standards related to Transfusion Medicine.
- Maintains proficiency in computer functions in assigned areas.
- Completes, verifies, and reports testing in a timely manner.
- Complies with safety guidelines and procedures and adheres to regulatory mandates.
- Demonstrates dependability and accountability for all actions, enhancing productivity and laboratory functions.
- Stewards Transfusion Medicine resources and practices Lean Methodology.
- Serves as a Transfusion Medicine expert resource for all testing protocols.
- Assists peers and supervisors with tasks after completing assigned work.
- Adheres to attendance policy and begins work as scheduled.
- Works independently and utilizes available resources to maximize efficiency.
- Assists in the development of laboratory personnel and tests to enhance laboratory functions.
- Actively participates in training students, employees, and fellows.
- Participates in process improvement projects.
- Assists Transfusion leadership with new equipment/test validation as assigned.
- Validates databases for new software or new tests implemented in the laboratory.
- Coaches and mentors students and employees.
- Responds to all staff concerns and questions.
- Promotes cohesiveness among the team, including psychological safety and well-being.
Requirements
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in a related science field or Molecular Genetic Technology.
- SBB Certification (Specialist in Blood Banking).
- 6-8 years of clinical laboratory compliance and operations experience, including 3 years of blood banking and 3 years of lead or supervisory experience.
