MRI Technologist Location: Galveston & Angleton, TX
MRI Technologist Shift Requirements:
- Galveston & Angleton: Fri–Mon, Days
- Galveston (TDC): Mon–Fri, 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.
- Galveston: Fri–Sun, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Galveston: Tues–Fri, 2:00 p.m.–12:30 a.m.
MRI Technologist Job Description:
The MRI Technologist I independently performs routine MR procedures and provides direct support to physicians for diagnostic and special MR procedures. This role ensures optimal patient care, image quality, and safety while collaborating with the patient care team. Responsibilities include performing MRI/MRA exams, assisting physicians, maintaining imaging equipment, documenting procedures, and adhering to MR safety protocols.
MRI Technologist Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine MRI and MRA procedures.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic or special MR procedures.
- Optimize protocols for patient care and image quality.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, and physicians.
- Maintain proper sterile techniques and follow MR safety policies.
- Perform weekly imaging equipment quality control (QC).
- Document procedures and enter charges timely.
- Participate in department projects, LEAN initiatives, and governance activities.
- Seek continual learning opportunities to expand MRI competencies.
- Ability to safely perform MRI procedures.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Hospital/Radiology Information Systems, PACS, and Office software.
- Team-oriented and adaptable to multiple priorities.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Completion of an MRI training program.
- Minimum 1+ year of MRI experience.
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- MRI certified or MRI registry-eligible at hire.
- Registry-eligible candidates must obtain ARRT or equivalent MRI certification within six months of hire.
- Work attire: scrubs.
- Equipment: MR units (various vendors), contrast injectors, PACS, EHR
- May require travel to nearby campuses.
- Participate in call, weekend, holiday, and disaster rotations.
- Physical demands: push/pull ≥50 lbs., walk long distances, stand/sit continuously up to 60 minutes.
