Title: Underwriting Assistant II (Due Diligence Analyst)

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

The Underwriting Assistant (Due Diligence Analyst) will support the evaluation of new providers (i.e., businesses) to participate in our Lending Financing Program, which allows businesses to offer installment loans to their customers. The Underwriting Assistant will evaluate several areas within the underwriting / due diligence program under direction of the Senior Risk Analyst, and other Provider Risk teammates. The Underwriting Assistant will form a preliminary recommendation to accept or decline providers, which will be subject to quality assurance or final review by either the Senior Risk Analyst, Director of Provider Risk Management, or Senior Director of Provider Risk Management. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

• Receiving provider underwriting assignments from Senior Risk Analysts and reviewing provider enrollment applications submitted by Sales Team
• Evaluating providers’ application across several categories of risk, such as business registration and ownership, reputation risk, financial risk, banking compliance risk (e.g., OFAC), and customer policies
• Logging into various products to conduct research for categories of risk; comparing results to specified due diligence criteria, as documented in Provider Risk Team job aids, evaluating whether providers meet or do not meet specified criteria
• Escalating, where additional information is needed to complete an evaluation
• Making preliminary recommendations on whether to accept or decline providers
• Communicating within the Provider Risk Team, with Sales Teams, and with the Provider Enrollment Team, as needed, to complete due diligence
• Thoroughly documenting research results in tools used by Sales, Enrollment, and Provider Risk teams
• Participating in training programs, developing a working knowledge of Provider Risk Team processes and procedures
• Conducting additional research upon request of Provider Risk leaders
• Contributing to team projects, as directed by the Senior Risk Analyst

Job Qualifications:

• Experience analyzing or researching to form conclusions, particularly within financial analysis, commercial risk analysis, or commercial underwriting / due diligence
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize results and shape conclusions from objective-based facts and qualitative judgements
• Comfortability using various technology, tools, websites, and google-based research
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
• Strong attention to detail, and ability to thoroughly review documentation and document processes and finding
• Ability to work independently and ask for assistance / escalate, when needed
• Adaptability to changing requirements or new processes
• Demonstrated strong sense of teamwork and collaboration
• A highly curious and inquisitive nature; professional demeanor
• Banking industry experience highly preferred
• Knowledge of the Salesforce Platform preferred
• Experience with data analytic tools (such as Power BI) preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in relevant field preferred
