Job Title: Web Engineer Address: White Plains, NY Schedule: Onsite, Full Time Job Description:
This role is critical for accelerating marketing, sales and servicing gains and the company's industry leading position by bringing incremental web changes to market. The ideal candidate is an industry-proven, hands-on, senior leader of web engineering by trade specializing in life insurance direct marketing and agency digital distribution.
  • Individual contributor collaborating with a team of 5-7 engineers performing rapid agile web development to advance digital sales and servicing capabilities for the company.
  • Owns execution of the plan and roadmap for e-commerce direct to consumer (DTC) and alternate distribution (agency) straight through processing enabling 1.5 million captured leads and ~750K submitted insurance applications per year.
  • Executes a roadmap for modernization and transformation of legacy applications supporting 300 internal contact center servicing agents and web self-servicing for ~2.5 million unique policy holders.
  • Grows the ADSD agile and analytical mindset and perpetuates the ADSD "can-do" spirit with existing employees and contractors.
  • Proactively aligns the organizational design with the changing technical landscape while selectively recruiting and hiring like-minded new engineers.
  • Leads team members when possible and individually manages product and sprint backlogs as needed to deliver web changes.
  • Ultimately accountable for sustaining and accelerating the delivery velocity of the entire team by effectively adapting people, process and technology to maximize value for the company within departmental and project budgets.
  • Responsible for hiring, evaluating performance, coaching, cultivating training plans and assigning work to all direct and indirect reports to meet all new software change related work demand.
  • Responsible for estimating new work and supplying employee and external contractors to meet demand for software change.
  • Satisfies all new work demand within funding based on those work estimates.
  • Leads teams using all people, process and technology advantages across the company.
  • Individually adheres to all designs, policies, procedures and standards for data security and regulatory compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Critical Information:
  • M.S. Computer Science, less than a Master's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by other technical training, relevant certifications, or extensive experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance. - Required
  • Typically requires at least 5 years of agile web engineering change management experience with at least 3 years in a leadership setting with executive level reporting experience. - Required
  • Typically requires 3 years of custom DTC and agency end-end life insurance software change management and large-scale public facing, direct to consumer e-commerce web engineering. - Required
  • Typically requires 3 years experience working with a team of web engineers utilizing agile delivery frameworks including Scrum, LeSS, Lean, XP, Kanban, FDD, BDD, API and UI test automation for quality control and supporting tools (Cucumber, JIRA). - Required
  • Must have the ability to simplify large-scale system change related needs to minimize total cost of ownership (ensuing overhead).
  • Must have an agile mindset and insatiable passion for innovation, agile delivery methods and continuous integration.
  • Must be an autonomous team player able to lead effectively while solidifying working relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
