Title: Workday QA/Test Manager V

Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid)

We are seeking an experienced Workday Test Manager to join the ERP Transformation program to implement Workday FIN. This position will be responsible for managing program testing efforts and supporting the testing workstream, reporting directly to the HCM/FIN Technology Director & Test Lead.

This position will collaborate with the ERP System Integrator, ERP Functional and Technical workstreams, Kainos Automation Testing vendors, existing Workday HCM Business and Technical Release teams, and the Testing CoE to drive testing, including all phases of Workday implementation, automation, and regression testing. This position will support test design, test case creation, test automation, and test execution. They will also be responsible for test management for governance, communications, test phase entry/exit criteria, and defect and metric reporting, among others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the entire test cycle, which involves multiple phases, including Smoke, Unit, End-to-End, Regression, Integrations, Parallel, Data Conversion, and UAT, until sign-off of each phase
  • Aligning with systems implementation partners to manage and report on the status of overall program execution and facilitate the execution of the test strategy and end-to-end test management
  • Planning and coordinating plans to ensure all testing activities are executed within integrated project plan timelines
  • Collaborating closely with workstream leads, planning test phase execution, scope, effort estimation, and providing risk management
  • Onboarding Workday FIN to the Kainos test automation suite (SmartTest, SmartShield, & SmartAudit); coordinating with the Workday HCM Automation Testing Lead to integrate HCM and FIN on shared automated testing
  • Establishing processes for FIN regression testing within Kainos SmartTest for the ERP Transformation program, and on-going governance between FIN and HCM post-program deployment
  • Coordinating and ensuring testing resources are aligned on scope, timing, and procedural expectations for every test cycle, including those needed to prepare and accomplish testing
  • Securing agreement from and coordinating with program teams on test environments, expectations, and resources
  • Supporting each test phase's entry and exit criteria, including formal approval from all relevant stakeholders, reporting, and signoffs
  • Performing defect management processes, including strategy, triage, reporting, and resolution
  • Coordinating regression testing of impacted systems

Key Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with Workday HCM and/or FIN required, with experience in a at least 1 full lifecycle Workday HCM or FIN implementation, including testing efforts
  • Experience with Kainos automation software
  • Proven project management skills, including experience with project management tools (i.e. Jira, qTest, PowerBI, Excel)
  • Hands-on experience in Agile methodology
  • A strong understanding of testing methodologies and best practices and in-depth experience with Workday testing processes for integration testing, functional testing, system integration testing, and regression testing
  • Experience leading test management from a customer-side, or within a project managed by a Systems Integrator
  • Strong risk awareness and management of risk skills, including the ability to forecast risk, evaluate severity, and make efforts to mitigate without impacting overall testing timelines
  • Ability to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Ability to apply creative solutions and strong problem-solving skills with agility
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field; relevant Workday Certification(s) highly preferred
